Today I have uploaded two tracks which were made during the summer of 2009.. around the time the stay at Ærø Højskole were about to end.
I have been fascinated about a certain movement called Musique concrete (from the 1950´s) ever since i stumbled across it during the final year in high school. The movement is defined by the use of sounds which do not have anything in common with sounds derived from musical instruments. Basically the tape recorder back then made it possible for composers to record whatever sound they wanted and it also provided the composer with manipulative techniques.
Today the manipulation of recorded sounds are endless due to computers and new technologies which were not invented back in the 1950´s.
My piece of music (uploaded down below) have been made on a computer, and not the traditional way with tape recorders (even tough I would love to do it that way). I have stayed true to the spirit of composers such as Else marie pade, Pierre schaeffer and Karlheinz stockhausen by keeping the nostalgic sound from the 1950´s.

In most cases it seems impropriate to reveal which sounds such compositions consist of because it maybe destroys the listening experience of a certain piece. If people do not know the origin of the sound, then it hopefully should leave them guessing and make them intrigued to some extend.
Anyway most recordings of degradeable part I have been recorded by a contact-microphone attached to a thin metal plate, which were undergoing serious abuse. Samples of radio static, drums, trains, people ect is also a part of degradeable part I. Degardeable (a stain) part II is an extension of degradeable part I and have some guitar chords here and there.... enjoy
All tracks I put on this blog can all be accesed on soundcloud.. just search for Bjørn Dam Larsen
